An Interview with Peter Mikulas, Injection Moulding Engineer at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies.
In about five sentences, please give us an overview of your job at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies?
Currently I work at FST Partner Production Transmission and Driveline (PP & TD) for the Production Technology team in the field of injection molding. My main tasks are supporting the production, educating the setter team and introducing the incoming new technology to the production. Furthermore, I got involved in the Work Council and I was selected to be the head of Work Council in Kecskemét’s department by the members. So, my tasks and responsibilities grew with the delegation of local Work Council and employees.
What makes working with Freudenberg Sealing Technologies different from other companies or teams you’ve worked with?
FST was my first workplace after high-school graduation. My experience here is really positive and motivational. Freudenberg is an awesome company to work for. The team here in Hungary really demonstrates positive values. We have great relationships with our colleagues at both the local and international level.
Why did you decide you wanted to work here?
During my studies I worked at a local company as a student. This company did work for FST, so I learned about FST via this company. After that, I applied successfully for a trainee program at FST and I had the chance to apply to an open position, for which I was offered the position.
Can you tell us about the culture at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies?
I think people can communicate with each other directly at all levels. It can ease the common work and the relations while we are working. We have the chance to know each other better and spend valuable time in an informal atmosphere through an annual corporate team building experience. Every year the company offers a trip for the shift workers which is a really good chance to collect common experiences.
Freudenberg is an awesome company to work for. The team here in Hungary really demonstrates positive values. We have great relationships with our colleagues at both the local and international level.
What does Freudenberg Sealing Technologies have to offer regarding career / talent development?
Based on my own experience, I received a career plan from FST that surpassed all of my expectations. My career at FST is an excellent example of what a good opportunity you can get if you are motivated and competent.
As I mentioned earlier, I applied for a trainee program successfully and my first project was the development of a finishing machine. My examination paper was based on this project also. After this, I gained a position in the field of finishing. My main task was to get to know and develop the finishing process. I closed the project successfully and due to this fact I was promoted to shift engineer.
As a shift engineer my tasks were expanded with the control of the injection molding area and the support of the setters. Due to the expansion of the Kecskemét site parts of the production had to be temporarily moved to another site in Lajosmizse. I went there as well and my responsibility was the control of the production and a smaller group of colleagues. At the end of the expansion I was moved back to Kecskemét factory and my main task was the full support of the injection molding area. Since last year my responsibility is the technological control of the injection molding area and the training of the setters. In addition to this, I was selected for the head of the Work Council by the members so my tasks and responsibilities grew with the delegation of local Work Council and employees, which is a really big challenge for me.

In my opinion, FST is a dynamically developing company, which allows for employees to use their knowledge at the maximum level. There are many opportunities to develop personal areas of expertise.
How is your team organized or what does it look like?
Sandor Furedi is responsible for the PP T&D Production technology control. In the team every person has their own area which they are responsible for. Our common aim is the continuous process development and to ensure that our customers are satisfied.
