16th Scandinavian International Conference on Fluid Power

This conference is organized by the Laboratory for Automation and Hydraulics (AUT) of the Tampere University of Technology, and the co-organizer is the Global Fluid Power Society.

The conference focuses on the various areas of automation for fluid technology. The latest developments in the academic and industrial worlds of fluid technology are discussed in innovative lectures. The forum serves as an important industry platform for sharing views and information.

Thanks to its broad positioning, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) also has expertise in hydraulic seals and industrial accumulators for industrial and automotive applications. Construction, mining and other work machinery must be able to handle the most difficult environmental conditions: moisture, harsh weather, enormous temperature fluctuations and ultraviolet radiation, not to mention sand, mud and ozone. And then there are system-related technical factors that can impede the operation of work machines or shorten their service life, such as corrosive oils and fuels. It is important to remember that schedules are tight in logistics as well as the construction, agricultural and forest industries – and time is money. There is no room for error or downtime. In short, functional reliability and efficiency are in demand for mobile work machinery – and so are solutions from FST.

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies (FST) has developed innovative solutions for high and low pressure accumulators for hydraulic hybrid energy storage systems. These systems support demand for more energy efficient and fuel saving solutions. For vehicles with heavy stop and go duty cycles, a hybrid accumulator system can be an optimal choice to recover brake energy and reduce overall fuel consumption. During braking, the kinetic energy is converted to stored energy via a gas-filled accumulator system. This stored energy is then available when needed for accelerating the vehicle from a stopped position. This makes a significant contribution to reduced fuel consumption, lower CO~2~ emissions and also enables downsizing of other vehicle system components. In addition, wear on braking systems is significantly reduced, contributing to an overall improvement in total cost of ownership. Hydraulic hybrid accumulator systems can be used in cars and mobile applications, including smaller delivery vans, refuse trucks, and other vocational vehicles with high stop and go duty cycles. FST has now succeeded in reducing the weight of the storage system (consisting of a high pressure and low pressure piston accumulator), thus making its application even more attractive for mobile use. Hydraulic Hybrid Accumulator systems are also an alternative to electric hybrid solutions for smaller vehicles.
